Dorothy Ashby - The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby (2007) FLAC Artist: Dorothy Ashby Title: The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby Year Of Release: 2007 Label: Dusty Groove America Genre: Soul Jazz, Cool, Hard Bop Quality: FLAC (tracks+.cue) Total Time: 39:20 Total Size: 225 MB. Electrified harp, funky vibes, Japanese koto, and more - all wrapped up in Chicago soul arrangements from the legendary Richard Evans. Easily the funkiest record ever from the legendary Dorothy Ashby - a set of all-original tunes based on the writings of Omar Khayyam, done in trans-cultural blend that inflects Ashby's jazz roots with Eastern-styled instrumentation - and sends the whole thing.

Reviewing the album for AllMusic, Thom Jurek writes: 'this is a head record. Time and space are suspended and new dimensions open up for anyone willing to take this killer little set on and let it spill its magic into the mind canal through the ears. Depending on how much of a jazz purist you are will give you a side to debate the place of this set in Ashby's catalogue. For those who remain open, this may be her greatest moment on record …'[4]
